Legislative advocacy on is an important part of the work NASW does for its members at the Federal and State levels.
NASW Colorado’s legislative committee identifies bills of interest to the social work profession during each legislative session. Our lobbyist helps the committee follow these bills through the legislative process and advocate in the best interest of social workers throughout the state. NASW Colorado may also propose legislation if a need is identified within the social work community.
NASW Colorado would like to encourage all members to advocate for the profession of social work and our clients by being informed and involved in the legislative process. Social workers’ experience in the field is an invaluable asset to the chapter and its legislative efforts. Please contact the NASW Colorado office or the legislative committee with any legislative questions or concerns or if you would like to get involved. Your input and involvement helps us work to better serve you and your clients.
NASW's Advocacy Network Listserv
NASW’s Government Relations staff is fighting hard to make the voice of professional social workers heard on Capitol Hill. The most effective way to express our ideas and vision, however, is through our members. Having a network of professional social workers who are willing to contact their members of Congress — via letter, e-mail, or office visits regarding specific issues is essential, ensuring that NASW’s legislative agenda is addressed in the Senate and House of Representatives. If you are interested in joining the advocacy network listserv, please click on the link above and complete the form.
