6/29/09   Rule Making on Definition of Clinical Social Work (HB 1339) on July 10th -  The rule making session with DORA on the definition of clinical Social Work is scheduled for 9am on Friday July 10th......

Issue with DORA -  Supervision Hours for Licensure - Recently DORA has stated that in order for supervision and work experience hours to count toward earning an LCSW the candidate MUST concurrently be licensed as an LSW or be in the Unlicensed Psychotherapy Database. DORA has also interpreted the statute to define clinical as primarily psychotherapy. Many candidates had their applications denied by DORA for this reason. . . .

Late Bill on the Definition of Clinical Social Work - Because of the issue with Supervision Hours (see above), NASWCO introduced this bill to clarify the definition in statute. House Bill 1339 was introduced on April 8th. Click the link to see a fact sheet on the bill.

Continuing Competency Bill - The Chapter passed a bill in the state legislature that requires continuing competency for LSWs and LCSWs. UPDATE: 6/4 The bill has was signed into law by Governor Ritter.
